About the event
I am thrilled to announce that two of Sigma Gamma Rho's National Programs will be combined this year: Operation Big Book Bag and the annual Youth Symposium.
The Operation Big Book Bag is designed to address the needs, challenges, and issues that face school-aged children. Provided to students will be access to reference materials and other studying aid tools that will help students with their educational endeavors.
The Youth Symposium is designed to highlight some of the prevalent concerns that negatively impact oour youth (drugs, teen violence, abuse, low self-esteem, suicide, teen pregnancy, human trafficking, etc.). Only ages 12 - 18 can attend the Youth Symposium due to the nature of the content. Parents with younger children are encouraged to visit the Parent lounge during the sessions.
One may ask, why is this year different? I am glad you asked. We are excited to have My ASL Teacher Rocks partners with us to teach the community about Deaf awareness and ASL. This is something that has never been done before and I promise you, you are in for a treat! Sign Langauge interpreters will be provided by Equivalent Communications in every session.
